From Fear to Peace

This was what was happening in London with a small part of it occurring in Bromley.

We understand that the missionaries in Welling were chased by a gang. Others looked out their window to see groups of people unloading their loot and sorting it. We did not see any violence or crowds but as we left Tuesday for the Temple we did notice that many small shops were closed up.

The temple complex includes the mission office as well as accommodations for temple workers and patrons. It felt like a safe haven of friendship and peace. It is actually not in London but 25 miles south in a rural area.

I have read that the man who designed the grounds was not LDS but read enough history of the church that he wanted to provide a “sacred grove” feeling to it. He succeeded well and there are lovely walking paths and benches with a view to the temple.

At least it's not a banana slug.

We also had the opportunity to visit with the mission president and get some of our questions answered regarding our assignment. He has several couples going home in the next few weeks and may need to assign us to a different location. Although we have become comfortable here and made friends within the ward, we are not opposed to being elsewhere.

We are loving our mission and are grateful for the support of our family and friends.
